Pickering-4 @ Vaughan-7
PANTHERS FALL TO TEAM THEY ELIMINATED IN LAST YEARS PLAYOFFS...

VAUGHAN, ON: In their 1st meeting since Pickering's thrilling Game-7 comeback victory in last year's playoffs, the Panthers and Vipers battled their way through a lacklustre game at the 'Al Pal' in Vaughan.

The 1st period saw both teams find the net three times.

Despite the reported scorers on Pointstreak, scoring for Pickering was veteran Greg Payne (6th of the season), and veteran Brendan Hann with a pair (3rd & 4th of the season).

Pickering's third goal at the 8:25 mark of the period chased goaltender Matthew Pombo from the net. It was the first of two goaltending changes in the contest, as neither starter made it through 60-minutes.

Early in the 2nd period the Vipers got into penalty trouble when Daniel Barnes was assessed an instigator, fighting major, and game misconduct. Pickering enjoyed a 7-minute powerplay, and had a two-man advantage for a full 2-minutes Danko Mironovic was called for slashing.

Pickering came up empty on the lengthy powerplay.

Midway through the period, with the Vipers up 4-3, Panther leading scorer Jamie MacQueen scored a beautiful shorthanded goal, undressing the Vaughan defenceman, and firing a rocket 5-hole on Michael Iafrate.

The teams looked destined to enter the 3rd period deadlocked until the Vipers Tom Coukos scored on a wrist shot in the period's final seconds.

Again, despite what is currently reported on Pointstreak, Ben Calma came into the Pickering goal to start the 3rd period.

The Vipers would add a pair as Pickering opened up their game to try and generate some offence - make the final 7-4 Vipers.

Much like last years playoffs the Panthers go from Vaughan to St. Michael's this week. The Panthers and Buzzers get going at 7:30pm on Friday, at St. Michael's College School Arena - the can be seen LIVE on Rogers Television in the Toronto/Scarborough area.
